G&S 1, COVID 0! 'THE MIKADO' A HIT IN PORT WASHINGTON

For a while it looked as if the COVID-19 outbreak that knocked out six or seven members of the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island's cast for The Mikado: A Long Island Fantasy would forced cancellation of its scheduled June 25 performance at the Jeanne Rimsky Theatre in Port Washington. In the end, though, an enthusiastic audience enjoyed the show despite a reduced chorus and performances by several understudies. The company has never canceled a performance in its 68 years, and hopes never to do so.
