'MIKADO' CLOSES IN STYLE

The Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island closed out its 2022 production of The Mikado: A Long Island Fantasy in style last night, with an outdoor performance at the Bethpage Public Library. It was the production's eighth performance--no small feat, given that the company had to fend off a COVID-19 outbreak that, at once point or another, infected more than half the show's performers. Audiences were down this year, as they have been for live-performance groups worldwide, but the show was well received wherever it went, and hopes are high for the future.
